Sunset

Peach, purple,

Pale mauve and dip

Into the sea

And behind those

Distant hills.

Colours left
Lingering on the palette

Of the sky until,

Until the brush strokes,

Ignited by the fire

From the embers

Can no longer paint.

But fade out

Into the inky blackness

Of tonight…
